BIOGRAPHY

Lisa Nunn

For the past 15 years Brighton-based artist Lisa Nunn has been combining her painting with working in London for several Blue Chip companies. Lisa now paints full time, at home and 3 days a week in one of the country's leading artists, Julie-Anne Gilburt's Brighton open studio in Madeira Drive.

Forty year-old Lisa critically acclaimed in The Times, specialises in contemporary, bold and bright floral art in acrylic and oil on canvas. Previous commissions have included beautiful blood red roses, tangerine coloured gerberas and striking single stem tulips. The artwork has varied massively in size. Some paintings have appeared on walls in large stately homes and others have been smaller, more intimate pieces. Lisa takes her inspiration from garden flowers and those she's seen on research trips to Kew Gardens, Covent Garden Flower Market and in and around Brighton.

Floral Paintings

Lisa likes to paint flowers in a really bold and bright way so you can see the minute detail of the stems, petals, stamen and pollen. The subjects she paints are so small naturally and often we don't see or look at them close up. This is very much the inspiration behind her pieces.

Wall Murals on Canvas

Lisa's other expertise is picture-perfect wall murals in acrylic and oil on large canvases. These pieces really appeal to her audience as unlike traditional murals which are painted directly onto a wall, these pieces are painted on a very large canvas making them easily transportable if you move house. In the past fans have commissioned Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Yu-Gi-Oh characters and a fairy-tale scene for children's bedroom walls. She's currently working on 20 commissions of varying themes for one of the UK's leading independent hospitals.
